The Reno Marketing Community at its Finest

Last night I got to be part of the Reno AMA 2017 Ace Awards. For those of you who don’t know, this is an event dedicated to recognizing the amazing marketing talent we have in the Reno-Tahoe area. Every year, the local AMA chapter asks for nominations, and then submissions. These are free so that everyone, big or small, has a chance to win. The committee then narrows down the finalists, and the board along with their sister chapter vote on the winners. As a member of the organizing committee, seeing it all come together was both relieving and exciting.

Being in a room with the best and brightest in the marketing community is humbling and inspiring. Seeing how everyone supports, communicates, and has fun with each other makes me feel so proud to be part of this community. There was no pettiness, no ill wishes to winners, no “they didn’t deserve that award.” Everyone genuinely wants everyone else to succeed, and it is so amazing to be in a community that genuine.

Not only does everyone support each other, but the level of work was outstanding. Reno can be a bit of a sleeper, it flies under most people’s radars. But having personally reviewed all 90-95 entries, I was filled with pride about what we have all accomplished. Websites, branding, PR campaigns, and more. Our Reno marketing community is pretty special 😊

So thank you to all of those who have welcomed me here and have made me feel like part of something bigger. I feel like we are the David’s, the Rocky’s, the Seabiscuit’s, and we kick some major ass!
